Honoring Ra

We are deeply sorry to announce that Ra Uru Hu, the founder and messenger of Human Design, passed from this world on March 12th 2011 at 5:40am in his home, in Ibiza, Spain. For some, this is old news, for others this will come as a shock. His death has been followed by an outpouring of love, respect, gratitude and admiration for him personally and especially for his gift of the Human Design system. Ra saved many lives. Many people have conveyed that Ra contributed to their liberation in profound ways. The impact of his passing continues to unfold.
Ra died just as Uranus passed the vernal point (0 degrees Aries) and the alignment with the orbit of our solar system around the Milky Way Galaxy. As previously shared, this transit marks the beginning of an entirely new cycle of evolution from which there is no turning back. Ra left this world on the threshold of “The Perfect Storm.” We will deal with unparalleled initiations over the coming weeks and it is essential that we each make decisions about tragic events and powerful initiations through our personal Authority. Ra made it into this new era to say goodbye.
Uranus initiated the emergence of the Nine Centered Vehicle in 1781. Now we see the living and sometimes frightening reality of what this means. We will come to realize and appreciate Ra Uru Hu for many things, especially for his bravery. He leaped across the mystic void in 1987 to define a new reality through The Human Design. Ra has said: “In order to survive the movement of the maia, one has to be deeply embedded in it.” This statement always reminded me of the power of an earthquake. Ra left just hours after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
The channel called “Initiation” will be defined for the entire month of April and part of May. We had a taste of these forces in March. As we witness the events played out by the program on the world stage, we will also feel these forces inside of ourselves. We will be challenged to remain with our own Authorities and make honest decisions about shocking events, as we embark on the next great phase of Earth evolution.
Uranus took over a decade to pass through each of the gates of the Solar Plexus, bumping us upstairs one emotional awakening at a time. The rest of the faster moving planets have followed and are recapitulating the work of Uranus through the Solar Plexus. Then they pass Uranus on gate 25, and will soon transit gate 51. As we previously discussed in “The Perfect Storm”, this will complete the channel of shock-initiation. It is important to see these developments as part of a larger process where we have been prepared by all of the changes and emotional awakenings over the last decade and through exercising our energetic Strategy.
Each person will experience and express their relationship with Ra in their own way. For me there is one sure way to honor Ra and his work in the Human Design: that is to go back to the Human Design Body Graph and explore its mechanics in depth as he did, to work its magic, as he did, and to witness the birth of a new reality through mechanics. The Human Design is something that is alive. When you see the mechanics working, it is breathtaking. Both the dilemmas of life and the solutions to these dilemmas are found in each person’s chart. We have reached a new level in the Human Design work, as we see people young and old engaging the world as themselves and exercising their formative forces through their vehicle. We all stay close to Ra’s initiation and the power of his will, every time we live as ourselves, and continue genuine research contributing to the development of the Human Design.
The Human Design is something that appeared in the world through a transmission. Ra spent the remainder of his life investigating this wonder and living in awe of what it was. Human Design knowledge evolved in Ra in a living way. Ra did not go up on some mountain to get tablets that would always stay the same; he received something that is practical, that works beautifully and evolves through its own power. Ra trusted people because he knew that Human Design works. Ra was not here to make something dogmatic, nor to give birth to something rigidified or worse … where scripture becomes more important than personal experience. No, he was dedicated to something that lives and he has asked us to approach this as ourselves, to trust ourselves and to express it in our unique ways. This fulfills the mission of Human Design. Ra acted upon this support by giving ways for people to use their unique voices through Human Design Radio and as Professionals.
The Voice obviously selected the right person for the task of grounding the Human Design. Ra not only survived the experience because of previous crisis experiences, but he also had the foresight, discipline and intelligence to create an educational system. He established a network of National Organizations as well as an International School with their own educational programs to carry the work forward.
Ra was an expert at keynoting. He first used this technique by teaching history to youngsters in a small country school in Ibiza. He was inspired by how they could remember vast quantities of information when that information was anchored to living and well constructed keynotes. He had the imagination and discipline to compress all of what he had seen or heard in The Voice into a keynoting system.
Ra did not originally experience the Human Design System as we know it. Ra experienced a living audio-visual download. He saw what The Voice saw. The Voice spoke Human Design as a language. He was capable of decoding that vision and compressing it. This was perhaps the most extraordinary of all of Ra’s gifts: the uncanny ability to take vast, all-encompassing, awe-inspiring experiences and compress them into one-word keynotes or keynoting phrases. These keynotes are not just words. They are chemistry. By working the keynotes, we enter into the same transcendent experience that Ra had. Keynotes initiate a chemical process of self-recognition and lay a new foundation for self-awareness, for a new kind of communication. He made the original experience into transferable knowledge and set the stage for a new phase of evolution.
Thus we can see that the living nature of Human Design is not some kind of mistake. Keep your eyes open and see what happens because of that supreme act of will. It is magic. Human Design is a Rosetta Stone written across four cosmological sciences for scientific method to investigate. We will develop the future languages that we will learn to speak as Nine Centered Beings. Our task is to create a new society. Nothing short of this will do.
Let us keep the reality and usefulness of Human Design alive by working it, keeping it very close and returning often. The task of advancing Human Design now falls to us. It is alive because Ra kept it alive. Ra continually researched and found new ways to speak the mysteries of Design. His words were filled with curiosity and were finely nuanced. His creativity never stopped. Let it not stop with us. Let us not allow ourselves to drift off into personality worship, because this is not what Ra wanted. He expressed his distaste for personality worship, over and over, from the very beginning to the very, very end. He wanted the focus to be on the work and its magic. It is perfectly appropriate to honor, respect, admire and be grateful for the work that he did, but the thing that really honors him is to keep the mechanics and the keynotes alive. We do that through our sincerity, our study and by unpacking the keynotes for future generations.
Just as Ra was always discovering new things about the Human Design, we need to step up and make sure that it doesn’t ossify, that we don’t just repeat things mindlessly but rather refine its expression as Ra would. Things become real as we speak them from our own experience. We are really going to miss Ra Uru Hu for his originality and free spirit and most especially for his mutative creativity. He was constantly advancing the knowledge. He was always concerned that Human Design be relevant to evolving beings. This is how we can honor Ra; we can follow his example in this way.
