The Perfect Storm

I’m assuming that many people are following the events in North Africa and the Middle East. We do that here at Human Design America through Google News and YouTube and what we are seeing is intense, especially in Libya. It is natural for us to look at the transit field and analyze the forces to which the collective is responding. We strive to unravel the mystery: “Why this, and why now?”

The current events remind me of the feeling and enthusiasm at the fall of the Berlin Wall, which began on the 9th of November 1989 in the early evening.

Uranus, the planet of unusual turns of fate and evolution, has now moved to the G centre and it is on gate 25. At the time of the Berlin Wall’s destruction, Mars was on Gate 25, but Uranus and Saturn were conjunct on another gate in the G Center, the Gate of the Behavior of the Higher Self (10), and was connected to Jupiter on the Gate of the Now (20), forming the Channel of Awakening, a Design of Commitment to Higher Principles. Neptune was on Gate 58 at that time.

Uranus is now on the gate of universal love, Gate 25 and this gate is a potential on the Channel of Initiation. Along with the gate of shock (51), it forms the Channel, nicknamed the Channel of ‘shock-initiation.’ Gate 25 is the gate of the Spirit Warrior who must leap across the void and land on its feet. Certainly, we can see the quality of the spirit warriors in Tahrir square and in the events of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya,Yemen, Iran, Wisconsin, Indiana and soon in Ohio.

At the beginning of the Rave New Year, Uranus was still on the Gate of Crisis, gate 36, where it had retrograded earlier in the year. Even though Uranus has finished transforming and initiating all of the gates of the Solar Plexus throughout the last decade, it still has work to do to facilitate crisis and transition. The other translation of the Greek root of the word Crisis is Opportunity. The crisis needs to be complete to usher in the new.

In Libya, we see some of the more monstrous forces of hexagram 36, “the Darkening of the Light.”

With Uranus now on gate 25, the Sun will pass through gate 51 in its annual journey, forming this whole channel of Initiation. At the same time, at the beginning of April, Mars joins Uranus in the Gate of the Spirit Warrior (25). Thus, we will have the Sun and Jupiter on one end of the channel of Shock-Initiation and Mars joining Uranus on the other end of the Channel. This is a tremendously explosive combination. All of the events that we are witnessing now are leading up to this influence. The full force of these powers will manifest throughout the month of April and May.

All the while, Pluto is on gate 58. One of the keynotes for 58, along with "joie de vivre", the love of life, is the “audacity to challenge authority.” I’ve been looking at this transit coming up for years. I have wondered what kind of revolution this transit might bring. Often times, I have thought "Will this be the revolution that we really want?" Obviously overthrowing autocracy is something that we all want, but how it gets overthrown or what replaces it -- is a huge open question.

There is a more important revolution. This revolution is based on our respect for each other. This revolution is based on our own experience of making decisions as ourselves. Once we have this experience, we see our lives shift in revolutionary ways. Once we are participating in our own transformation based on our own way of being, we would never think of depriving another of this process of being themselves.

Our times are a mixture of self-realization and awakening, and the overthrow of corruption so that people can eat and have the opportunity to develop. In pointing out the need for the Human Design Revolution, I don’t mean to minimize anyone's struggle for liberation. Although other revolutions are necessary, justified and important, until the Revolution of Personal Authority is realized in action, they will always be violent. In the balance between non-violent and violent, while we are waiting and working on the real revolution, the only question is how violent. We can brace ourselves for violence and hope for the emergence of the true self and the non-violent revolution. We see signs and this is the source of enthusiasm.

Jupiter reaches the gate of Shock (51) on March 31st, 5 days ahead of the Sun, and stays there through to the 23rd of April. The Moon passes through gate 51, just after the New Moon on gate 21, on April 3rd. Mercury crosses the gate of Shock in late March, then stations, and crosses 51 again in April and again in May. Mars moves into gate 51 in the 4th week of April  and leaves a week before Venus moves onto gate 51 in early May. I call this confluence of forces, “The Perfect Storm.”

This means that the whole channel of ‘Shock-Initiation’ will be activated by transit for all but 2 days in the month of April and also for part of May. All of this is happening while Pluto is on gate 58, the “Audacity to Challenge Authority.” In addition, Neptune moves from gate 30 line 6, “The Purging of Unjustified Vanities”, to the "Awareness of the Provocation" in gate 55. In a much larger cycle, the vernal point aligns with gate 55 during the turning of the ages. This alignment provides the power of Mutation to hexagram 55 line 6 and precipitates the emergence of a new kind of human being: The Rave.

The channel of Shock Initiation will finish the work of Crisis and usher in a new era or not. These forces will invoke a shifting of the planetary tide. This is “The Great Turning” for better or worse.

We are always under the pressure of evolution. We can connect with these forces through our personal Authority and show up for history. History is changed by those who show up for it. It is always a challenge for us to follow our strategy and our own way of making decisions. When we do, we meet the challenges of the day and the demands of our era as ourselves.

Uranus is crossing the vernal point. The vernal point is the position of the Sun on the first day of spring and represents the first degree of Aries and the beginning of a new cycle of manifestation. Through the precession of the equinoxes, the vernal point is lining up with our Sun’s orbit around our home Galaxy, the Milky Way. The alignment of Uranus with this point will not be repeated for many, many thousands of years.

Uranus has completed its passage through Pisces of the tropical zodiac.  It has passed through all of the gates of the Solar Plexus over the last decade, evolving inter-relational intelligence. It has now moved to the G centre, the Higher Self, to the Gate of the Spirit Warrior and Universal Love, where the spirit warrior needs to leap across the void and land sharp-eyed on her feet. So, we are moving across a void into a new era. 

Earlier this year, Uranus crossed the vernal point, the point through which all new energies enter our Solar Cell, and then it retrograded back to gate 36 to finish the work of crisis and transition. It will not retrograde back over the vernal point again and its alignment with the galactic forces again in our lifetimes nor that of our children beyond the 7th generation. As it passes over the vernal point in the next weeks, it’s starting an entirely new cycle and we’ll get to see what this cycle brings to us. It will bring us destruction or harmonic transition, but either way it will bring a new evolutionary course. Perhaps, this transition will be gentle. More likely, we will hit some serious bumps the likes of which we are beginning to see in Libya. We can hope for the best, but either way, we live in a new world.
